Unbeaten Sand Dollar running away with Div. 2

Division 2
Longboat Observer 16, Panaramic 12

Josh Zawistoski leads the team to victory and helps Longboat Observer climb above Panaramic. Adam Clark was top scorer for Panaramic.

Sanddollar 26, E Training Solutions 9

The only team to remain unbeaten took this one easily and by some margin. Top pick Burke McCampbell-Hill scored 14 points for Sand Dollar, with teammate Cameron Brauner hitting for six. E Training Solutions is struggling to find form.

Dips Ice Cream 44, Island Family Physicians 12

A depleted Physicians side came up against a team firing on all cylinders. Justin Gargett and Max Miller combined for 22 points and keep Dips neck and neck for first place in the division.

Premier Division
Bradenton Prep 36, Island Real Estate 34

Coach Pate will be left ruing the seven missed free throws in this ultra close contest. Zach Evans led the scoring for Island Real but it was Edward Brown and Jason Shkodnik combining for 24 points and Kyle Victors late six that gave this one to Bradenton Prep.

Beach Bistro 20, Sandbar 6

Joey Stewart was on fire in this game, scoring 14 of the team’s 20 point total. Jo Jo Rogers and Maddy Koczersut scored for Sand Bar.

Coastal Orthopedic 7, Jessie's Island Store 5

Jessie's could have gone top with a win here, but it wasn't to be in this lackluster affair. Coastal doubles its win tally for the season.

Premier Division
A Paradise 46, Island Real Estate 32

A Paradise power forward Kyle Aritt scored a big 20 points, including four from five at the free throw line. Teammates Troy Koszewski and Kyle Sewall combined for 22 to take this game away from its opponents. Notable for Island Real Estate was Forrest Schield with 12.

Beach Bistro 10, Walter and Associates 6

A close game that went to the wire, the difference being a blank drawn by Walter and Assoc in the first half.

Division 1
Dips Ice Cream 39, Fronius 23

Fronius was a bit out of sorts here and lost the chance to retain sole possession of first place. Dips’ Justin Gargett showed his mettle with 19 big points. The rest of the points came from across the board in this convincing performance from Dips, which moves into a tie for the division lead.

Ross Built 18, Air & Energy 10

Andrew Ross scored early, with Gavin Sentmen and Brooke Capparelli sealing the deal for Ross Built late on.

Division 2
Sand Dollar 10, Longboat Observer 7

A chance for Longboat Observer to inch closer to the league leaders Sand Dollar, which remains the only unbeaten team left. A close contest with both teams playing a defensive-minded game.

Bradenton Prep 26, A Paradise 21

Bradenton Prep is proving itself a bit of a handful in this division, beating division leaders A Paradise, which was without top scorer Kyle Aritt.

Rotten Ralph's 44, Island Real Estate 39

A full strength Ralph's side proved that old adage of strength in numbers as Island Real was unable to field any substitutes. That said, it did mange to stay with the pace and were only outscored by two as late as the fourth quarter. Forrest Schield led all scorers with 16, as Joe Karasiewicz and Trevor Bystrom combined for 19. Matt Bauer and Chris Callahan led with a combined 34 points as Ralph's kept pace with division leader A Paradise.

Division 1
Fronius vs. Island Family Physicians

Fronius wins by forfeit in this one as Island Family Physicians did not have enough players. to start the game.

Division 2
Longboat Observer 22, Panaramic 6

Longboat continues its surge to the top with Josh Zawistoski scoring 10 points. Teammates Andrew Zink and Jack Blanvelt both had four as Panaramic slips up.

Division 2
Sand Dollar 38, E Training Solution 8

Lauren Sapienza and Burke McCampbell Hill both scored 12 and Cameron Brauner had 10 as Sand Dollar firmly cements its intentions in Division 2.

Division 3
Jessie's Island Store 24, Ross Built 21

It’s cat and mouse for both teams here as they vie for that coveted top spot in the division. Seth Walter put in a magnificent performance for Jessie's with 14 points. The Ross boys combined for 16 points but Jessie's squeezed this one and is tied with Ross Built in first place.

Division 3
Coastal Orthopedic 14, Air & Energy 9

Air & Energy's Michael Latimer only managed four points in this one, while teammate Tyler Yavalar had five, which was not enough against a Coastal side that spread the ball around. Luke Valadie had a respectable six, four for Joe Class as Coastal looks to get off the bottom of the division.

Final call for Little League

The final day of tryouts for the 2009 Little League season at the Anna Maria Island Community Center will be Saturday, Jan. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Registration is continuing at the Center, located at 407 Magnolia Ave., Anna Maria, with children from ages 5 to 16 who live within the AMICC Little League boundaries eligible to enroll and play. Registration is required even if the child played previously.

The cost is $85 for the minors, majors and junior/senior divisions and $60 for T-ball and pony divisions.

This year, Little League will offer the following:

• Friday Night Lights games for parents and players throughout the season
• Instructional clinics highlighting hitting, fielding and pitching.
• Five different age groups – T-ball, pony, minors, majors and Junior/senior divisions.
• Family Fun Day and Home Run Derby Day
• Championship playoffs for all divisions except T-ball.
• Trophies for all players plus division and playoff winners
• Representation in various area all star tournaments.
